Montessori Environment:

This is a Preschool and Kindergarten program for children 3-6 yrs of age.  Each student develops at his or her own pace and will work with concrete materials that are openly displayed in the environment.

Exercises range from Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Culture.  The children work cooperatively with others, working to increase their concentration levels and develop patience and self-confidence.  They are encouraged to become a classroom leader as their confidence grows.

Children learn best by doing.  In the classroom, the Montessori materials are openly displayed.  This environment allows each child to use their hands to manipulate the materials and learn abstract concepts concretely.  Each student works at his or her own pace while engaging in individual and small group lessons.  The individualized attention that your child receives encourages them to work cooperatively with others and increase their concentration levels while developing patience and self confidence.

Class Schedule:

Children arrive at approximately 8:20am, use the restroom, wash hands and walk down to the classroom.  They begin their day with a name writing practice card and at 8:30 we begin group circle.  The children are then dismissed to begin their independent work cycle: having individual and small group lessons with the teacher, all while listening to classical music.  We conclude our day with closing circle and the students are dismissed from the classroom at 11:30am.

The Lead Teacher brings with her 28 years of experience and is certified by the American Montessori Society.  Twenty-three of those years have been as a certified teacher in Montessori schools, Public schools and Preschools.  The other four years included teaching experience in Boys & Girls Clubs, YMCA's and City Park & Recreation programs.
